We are pleased to announce the first public viewing of The Two Koreas in 2010. On January 31st, we shall return to Wavelength, hosts of our third-ever gig back in April 2004. We are extra excited as this will also mark our first ever performance at new Dundossington playhouse The Garrison. Here are the details:

Sound, now vision

Visual evidence of our October 7 show with Monotonix and Little Girls abounds!
First, roving photog-about-town philogynist brings us these pictoral representations of the night that was.
Meanwhile, local video blogger The Untold City has produced these moving pictures:

Nous sommes numero une!
The Two Koreas would like to send out our sincerest "mercis" to our Quebecois comrades for making "54 Is the New 27" off Sessions EP the #1 song on CBC Radio's Bande a Part chart. (Scroll down and look for the chart that has The Two Koreas at #1.) Apparently, there's an 8-week limit for songs on the chart (kinda like the Menudo rule), so let's make the most out of the remaining 7 weeks, shall we?

Putting the awe in autumn
The latest bulletins from 2KHQ:
1. Nous allons a Pop Montreal! Or something to that effect. The Two Koreas return to our favourite Francophone-friendly festival for a special Unfamiliar Records showcase at Le Divan Orange (4234 St-Laurent) on Friday, October 2. Details TBA, but details they will be. (The last time we attended the festival, our government-sponsored media was there to greet us.)
2. Shortly after we return to Toronto, we will work off all that extra poutine when we open for insane Israelites Monotonix at the Velvet Underground (510 Queen W.) on Wednesday, October 7 with Little Girls. Tickets are $10 from Rotate This and Soundscapes.

A midsummer night's drone
We hope it has been a most august August for you. The Two Koreas have been busy not being busy, but we do have this to report:
As stated in the previous post, The Two Koreas opened for Githead at the El Mocambo. A fellow blogspot user offered up this thorough if not entirely enthusiastic account of our performance — The Two Koreas have been called many things, but rarely a bread byproduct. We're just grateful that we're deemed edible.
The following night we once again played with Githead at Orchard Studios in Brampton, Ontario, our first ever show in the 905 area. It was filmed for a webcast, a portion which can be viewed here. We'd like to thank Githead and the Orchard crew for their hospitality, the tasty chicken burgers and the rare opportunity to make us feel like we were in our own April Wine video.
On July 16, we had the immense pleasure of opening up for our Unfamiliar Records labelmates Japandroids. Exclaim had these nice things to say about it.
Our immobile summer tour continues on Aug. 14 when we play our oldest stomping grounds, the Silver Dollar, with the mighty Metz, Pace the Stairs and Bishop Morocco, a new electro-rock outfit featuring our old friends Jake Fairley, James Sayce and, in the best-supporting actor role, our own Ian Worang. A fellow by the name of Benjamin Portas designed this unspeakably awesome poster for the show. Thank you Benjamin.

And lastly: The Two Koreas are going to the Toronto International Film Festival! Sort of. Dylan Reibling's short-film Record — which features a few strategically placed bars of our choon "Cloth Coat Revolution" — has been accepted into TIFF's Short Cuts program. Congratulations, Dylan. We can only hope that our tones and drones had a hypnotic effect on the adjudicating committee.

So we lied...
Our July 16 show with Japandroids will not be the first Two Koreas show of 2009 — because on June 29, we have the great privilege of opening for Githead — featuring Colin Newman of Wire, and Robin Rimbaud a.k.a. Scanner — at the El Mocambo. Tickets are $13 from Rotate This, Sounscapes and www.musictoday.com.
